Message from the Board
2006-2009 a necessary period of positioning. Since March 2006 the Port of Dalhousie Inc., formerly under the authority of Transport Canada, has been run by a not-for-profit corporation sponsored by our group of longshoremen. It is with a feeling of ownership and the desire to be a key player in the development of regional businesses that our group accepted this challenge. With the emergence of a growing number of exporting and importing businesses, our new port authority feels that we have what we need to position the Port of Dalhousie as a key player in regional economic development in marine transportation in the Atlantic region. 2006-2009 will be an important period of positioning. Many projects are under study and we are optimistic that 2009 will be the cornerstone of long-term prosperity for the port authority of Dalhousie and its partners.
Welcome to the port of Dalhousie
The Port of Dalhousie Inc., in existence for over 135 years, offers incomparable savoir-faire and shows itself as a leader particularly to importing and exporting businesses in northern New Brunswick and the Gaspé. Situated at the junction of our world-class river and bay, the Restigouche River and the Bay Chaleur, the Port of Dalhousie is owned and managed by a well-known local group of longshoremen. Offering deep-water facilities capable of serving large ocean-going carriers, the Port of Dalhousie offers an important position in the northern part of Atlantica and also aspires to be the entrance to the corridor leading to the central Canadian markets, as well as a profitable option for the eastern American and European markets. Our mission is this: offer the greatest flexibility and best advantages looked for among growing businesses in the forestry, mining, agricultural, metallurgical and tourist industries.
